Before having my first son, I had honestly never given much thought to the mystery of newborn sleep; I guess I assumed that at some point all babies figure it out and magically learn to “sleep like a baby” all night long. The first several weeks were an oxytocin-induced baby bliss, but then the sleep debt started to add up and I felt like a walking zombie. I could hardly function; my work was suffering, relationships were being impacted, and I had no energy. In short, I wasn’t able to be the mom (not to mention, wife, friend, working professional, etc.) that I knew I could be.  


When I was referred to Shannon, I thought “there is nothing this person can possibly tell me that I haven’t already read/researched/tried on my own.” But I couldn’t have been more wrong. What she offered me was more than just education and a sleep plan; it was also support, validation, the realization that I was far from alone, and most of all…hope.  


I’m Kody Ramler and I am a Pediatric Sleep Specialist. I am so excited and honored to be part of the Sleep Well Children Consultation team! I have a master’s degree in social work and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practice where I get to help people gain the tools to navigate a variety of challenges from depression and anxiety to challenging life transitions. With extensive training in trauma and stress responses, I know how important sleep is for optimal physical functioning, but also in improving mental health.  


I have also received training from the Sleep Sense Academy and ongoing mentorship from Sleep Well Children, allowing me to combine my knowledge and experience to help children and families learn one of the most valuable skills that will last a lifetime: independent, quality sleep.
